Batiks, Murals & Prints!

  Artist: David Kantey

Batik is the art of creating color designs on fabrics using dyes and wax applications. The wax is used as a resist to protect dyed areas from being discolored as new colors are applied.  When the desired picture is completed the wax is removed by placing the cloth in boiling water and using suitable solvents to release the wax from the fabric. Repeat waxing and removal often occur where contrasting colors appear next to each other... i.e. blue and yellow, and green is not needed.
